Meet Cynthia Sullivan, Veritas Health Care Founding Member

Cynthia Sullivan, VA-BC, MSN, RN

Dryden, New York

Cynthia has been a registered nurse at Cayuga Medical Center (CMC) in Ithaca, New York for 23 years. 20 of those years have been spent taking care of patients in a mixed 16 bed ICU. While working in ICU she is/was responsible for managing the care of the ICU patient experiencing life-threatening problems requiring complex assessment, interventions and continuous nursing care. During that time she has served as Manager of the Intensive Care Unit, and is now Primary PICC RN for Cayuga Medical Center. Cynthia has worked on many committees including developing the Nursing Assessment Documentation tool using Meditech.

Cynthia has served as Co-Chair of the Performance Improvement Initiative since 2007 and is a member of the Ethics Committee. She currently is Team Leader for the Surviving Sepsis Campaign and has written the protocols, database and screening tools that are in place at CMC and is responsible for educating staff throughout CMC. She also teaches as an adjunct professor at Tompkins Cortland Community College. Cynthia received her Masters in Health Administration from Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and graduated Summa cum laude with a BSN in Nursing from Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pennsylvania. In 2008 Cynthia was the recipient of the 40 under 40 Award for Professional Development in Tompkins County, NY.

Since 2010 she has been a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine Instructors. She also is an instructor for ACLS, BLS, and SCCM classes.
